En el Tiempo de Las Mariposas - Spanish II Performance Assessment

Due:  May  2^nd  and 3^rd  

Your Mission:  As an inmate in La Cuarenta, you have suffered under the regime of Rafael Trujillo & are excited to share your story with officers of the Organization of American States. Unfortunately, this is impossible to do with Trujillo’s ever-present guards watching your every move. You see that the Mirabal sisters have managed to secretly pass a note to the OAS by braiding it into Mate’s hair & sneaking it into the interrogation room.  Your goal is to create & smuggle a similar note to the OAS. Since you are from the Dominican Republic, this note should be written in Spanish and will use the preterit tense. On  May  2^nd  and 3^rd  , an OAS officer (Ms. Ledford) will visit La Cuarenta. You should be prepared to sneak your note to her on either of these days. This note should describe your life in the Dominican Republic, why you were taken to prison, and what life has been like during the reign of Trujillo. Remember, this note has to be smuggled, so it should be at least 200 words, but not much more.  You should come up with a creative (and safe) way to smuggle this note to the OAS officer without being seen. If you are spotted by a guard, she will receive a promotion (bonus points!) on this assignment. This note MUST be hand delivered and can either be done in class or throughout the school day. You may NOT interrupt or leave another class to pass your note.  This assignment is worth 25 points -  remember, many lives depend on your ability to tell the story of Trujillo!
