Diario #2: Escritura Informal - Escriba un ensayo que compara y contrasta su música favorita (de los estados unidos) con los estilos de música en países latinoamericanos. ¿De qué hablan los cantantes? ¿Cómo reflejan la cultura en su música?  En este ensayo debe ser un énfasis en el tiempo presente con una mezcla de otros tiempos. Recuerde y use el bosquejo que yo le mostré en clase. Incluye un enlace personal. Para desarrollar un ensayo bien hecho, lea artículos o historias de jóvenes en países latinoamericanos y descubra lo que ellos piensan de música y la significancia que música tiene en sus vidas.  ¿Tiene un papel similar o no? En las dos culturas ¿Cómo las artes desafían y reflejan las perspectivas culturales?

Be the Difference!

At our opening prayer service, SLT members announced our theme for the year: Be the Difference! We also heard the song "We are the World" that served as a reminder of this theme. Since Spanish is our target language, I thought I'd share the Spanish version of the song below. Enjoy & sea la diferencia!

Parents, did you know...?

I.  All Spanish II & AP Spanish students have recently completed introduction presentations in their classes. You can see their grades online OR you can check out the graded rubric & presentation comments that I sent them via email.

II. Your student will have multiple opportunities each week  to  earn participation points in class. Ask them how they're doing!

III. Spanish II students will take a vocabulary quiz on Thursday/Friday of this week. You can help them study by using flashcards located on this page.

IV. Any presentation material(s) used in class will be posted on this page. If your student is struggling with a particular concept, ask her if she's reviewed the material on the blog.

V. This week I will be posting a calendar in my classroom for students who need additional help before or after school. Please encourage  your daughter to use this resource!

Your first journal entry is due (in your diarios) on 28.08.12. If you are having trouble choosing a topic, check out this list of themes that I've put together for you. Don't forget that I am your audience, so the register of your paper should be appropriate (think tú vs. Ud.). Please remember that diarios should be...

1. ...handwritten in black ink.

2. ...double-spaced.

3. ...turned in on time!

4. ...well-organized and thoughtful! (Make your English teachers proud & use the 3.5 essay style!)
5. ...4-5 pages. (Remember, it's double-spaced, so it's not as long as you think!)

Spanish II - Assignment #1

Welcome back to school, ladies!

1.  In class today you should have received 3 participation note cards. It is your responsibility to decorate these cards and make them your own! Remember - in order to receive a FULL participation grade, I must have all three of your cards by the end of a class period. If you forget your cards, you will NOT receive a participation grade for that particular class period. Remember-having all of your supplies IS a part of being prepared to participate in class!

2.  Please complete this brief "sondeo" (survey) so I may better communicate with you throughout the year. This is a homework grade!



3. Print or write vocabulary words located here! DEFINE each word.

4. Begin preparing for your 1-minute presentation due Wednesday and Thursday of next week (22 & 23).  Use the prezi below to help you meet all requirements discussed in class. Also, you may use this "cheat sheet" as you prepare for your presentation.
